Also, a huge word of thank for the people that saved and scanned all those manuals and catalogs. Those were immensely useful in figuring this beast out.

Poor phrasing on my part.

Read as: The washers that go on either side of the wood on the bolts that attach the whole machine to the wooden portion of the base. "

That is a beautiful restoration job. As you said maybe good for another 70 years.

Somethings from the earlier posts I thought about as I re-read this thread getting up to the current posts was how this Model 10ER ending up in Missouri. The second part is your last name Williams and did your family have any relatives in Washington? My wife's father has relatives in Missouri. It's been years since he attended a William's family reunion.

And no, I don't know if any Williamses on the west coast. The most famous Williams I know of was one of my grandfathers who was the PE coach at the local school, so everyone in town ages 50-80 remembers him.

I am puzzled by your Lathe Drive shown in your picture below. Does your Lathe Drive have a threaded bore?

.
It looks like it is threaded onto a 5/8" Arbor. I cannot see if the Lathe Drive has a set screw.
