Hello to all.
Just got signed up and wanted to say hey to everyone here. I've been working in wood for over 40 years in many differrent ways from hobby to proffessional logger to self employed portable sawmill operator. Have used my fathers Mark V for about 6 years now and have many fond memories of watching him work on it thru my childhood. It gives me great pleasure to work with it now and I feel he is there with me when I do. Just made my first "square hole" with the mortising bit and got a giggle out of it fur sure. I am a Fireman now but have been an equipment operator for most of my working career and know what a pleasure a quality machine can bring to it's user,,,,the Mark V is in the "top of the line" class of tools IMHO. I really like helping others so as I read thru the posts and meet new friends I hope I can contribute in some good way. Not to mention learn a thing or three Feel free to shoot me any ????? wood related or not,,,see ya around

When you get a chance, how about letting us know where you hail from and maybe your first name, at least. We like to be on a first name basis here.

Very near Redding,,but "up in dim hills" as they say,,,, We got 6 feet of snow last winter if tht gives you some idea of my elevation,,,, Went and bought the biggest Honda snowblower they make this summer,,,darn tirered of shoveling at my age!!!!

Welcome to the forum, Mike. It is good to have you with us. We always need a new viewpoint. With your background in the lumber industry, I know you have information to share that will be very interesting.

Like the snow shot. Looks really good, in pictures. I prefer warm to cold so I think I'll stay here this winter.

My brother keeps trying to get me to mover back to Montana; cold is the big reason why not.

There is something good to be said about the feeling you get from the heat from a wood burning stove,,,,I was raised in Indiana and find I really like to have all 4 seasons. I just prepare for the worst and if all else fails we just stay at home and entertain each other,,,,or make some wood chips in the shop

Hi, love the Redding-Readbluff area. We try to make it up that way every year or so with our motorhome. It's a great place to pick up some craft lumber, and do a little fishing. It's certainly nice to have a new voice on the website.
