holding part in place for screwing

How would you hold a long piece butted against a face precisely in place. for screwing. I working on building thickness sander based on Scott Markwood's video and want to screw two 2" x 19 1/4" x 3/4" plywood stretchers in place exactly 1/2" from bottom and 1 1/2" from front edges of the side pieces.
One piece is attached at the front to left and right sides. Then another at the back also to left and right sides. That means there are four attachment points, all using the same position measurements.
Two top 3" tall stretchers also will be screwed in place but flush with top edge of side and 3/1" from front and back edges respectively.
I was thinking of making a jig that would clamp in place. But I'm probably making it more complicated than necessary.
thanks,
hal
