Organic Wooden Gear Clock

I thought I'd share my latest project. This was designed by Clayton Boyer. I purchased the plans. It runs fine except that it losses time every day. I'm still fiddle farting around with it. Even with the time issue I think it's a handsome kinetic sculpture. It will look fine hung on the wall. This is a motor driven remontoir clock with a balanced horizontal pendulum. It's cherry and Baltic birch plywood. (I had a few other pics but I always get that message that the file is too large and I'm not clever enough to know how to fix it) I'm trying to figure out how to make a 30 sec video of it because it's much better to see it in motion. I'll post a link to YouTube if I figure it out. Don't hold your breath. Thanks for looking.

Clock looks great! I went looking for the plans to have a look and came across the accuracy info. You probably have already seen this, but if not, here it is (see below). You can replace the wood pendulum with Invar steel (small coefficient of thermal expansion) to improve the clock accuracy. Otherwise, daily humidity variations will cause the clock to vary day to day. Very cool clock design...

Nice work!
There used to be a 'horologist' member on this forum, but I haven't seen him in a long time.
I'll bet the sound is nice... maybe different wood species have different sounds too.
Thanks for sharing.

I figured out how to get a short video on YouTube. You'll have to turn your volume up to hear it. Hope you can see it okay.
