I have done three Double Tilt installations now and never had any real problems. A friend asked if I would assist him in doing the same for him. Sure! Why not. Simple job.

Just get a pin punch, a heavy ball peen hammer and drive out the tapered pins that secure the legs to the table bar. Pull the legs and install the new ones using NEW tapered pins.

Sounds easy. Was easy three times. This time not so easy.

We got the tapered pins driven out but removing the legs from the table bar isn't going so well. A block of wood and a mallet was used before. This time I am unable to get the table bar off of the legs.

Short of special equipment and help from a machine shop, does anyone have a suggestion or two.

I had a stubborn one. I tightened just the offending leg in the carriage and used the table like a wrench to turn the leg back and forth in the trunnion and to hold the leg while I lifted. I put a spare leg (a tool rest) in the unused carriage hole while I did this, probably not necessary. Mine came right out.

I have been able to turn the leg in the table bar but can not get the leg to pull out.

Have you tried penetrating oil yet? Turn the table upside down and see if it will seep into the joint. Maybe try to rotate the leg with a big pipe wrench. Eventually you could try a heat gun on the tie bar.

I got them off. Rather than explain verbally, I'll take some pictures.

Suffice it to say...used a big hammer and a couple common Shopsnith items. I normally recommend... NO HAMMER!
