Scroll saw dowel pin removal

Well, I’m trying to replace the arm/bracket that holds the plastic hood on the scroll saw. I tried to knock the dowel pin out but it is not budging. I am hesitant to hit it with too much force for fear the housing will break.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Thanks

Of course. Knew I’d forget to leave something out. Here are pictures of both sides of the pin.

I do not recognize this, but be careful to back up around the big end and have at it. The 'pin' may be serrated to provide a tight captive fit.
Do you have the replacement part?

Yep, have the part.
It seems the pin is not touching the outside of the upper arm cover at all (the side of the pin that is rounded). There is a large enough gap between the pin and the cover that I can see the broken bracket through it.
So I guess the pin is being held in place with the part of the housing that sits between the bracket.

Are the 'pin' holes different sizes(outer hole smaller)?
Outer is closer to the near inside surface of the arm.

Yes, they must be because I tried to push the pin from the outside side to the inside as this was the easiest route. I got the pin to move about a quarter inch in that direction then it was stuck tight and I could not budge it. Came back this morning and attempted to move the pin in the other direction from the inside to the outside and it slowly but surely came out.
I used a clamp with a 1-2-3 block against the outside of the housing to distribute the force against it and the holes allowed the pin to slide up (no picture - forgot). Then once the pin gave way easily switched to a nylon spacer and screw to get the pin all the way out.
Hope this helps if anyone ever needs to remove that darn pin. It travels from the inside to the outside of the housing.
Done deal
