Magna Mark VII headstock replacement
Has anyone replaced the headstock of the Magna Mark VII with a Mark V? I purchased a Magna Mark VII (running) but not working, speed control issues. I also purchased a Mark V, 4 motors and numerous parts, including 2 partial Mark V headstocks, hence my question. Any input would be appreciated!

Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum.
I have not had a Mark VII (old one from the 1960's) but from everything I have read and heard the headstock can be replaced with a Mark 5/V headstock. The racks have to be removed from the way tubes.

Yes, you can replace a VII with a V, at the cost of some of the functionality of the VII. But also be aware that your VII is repairable.

Re: Magna Mark VII headstock replacement
Thanks for the comments. I took the headstock off and replaced it with a Mark V headstock that I had put together thanks to YouTube and all the extra parts that had came with the purchase. I now have a working Shopsmith!
