Hope Chest or Cedar Chest...

My son and DIL informed me last night that I am supposed to make the granddaughters hope chests. I know I've got some lead time here (they're only 10 months old) but thought I'd get started on the planning stage now. Anyone have or seen a good set of plans for a hope or cedar chest they'd like to share?

Hi Tom! Take a gander at this thread. There are references to Hope/Cedar chests in page two. (I think posts #13 and further)

Here is a picture (before stain/finish application) of the design I used to make one for each of our daughters.
The chest has three working drawers - one of the main reasons I chose that design.
It's a plan from Volume 32 of Woodsmith magazine.

Found it again! As a computer operator - I'd make a good mid-wife! Ha Ha!
Sorry about the missing link! I'll give it a try again.

The references to plans are in posts #13 and further.

Chuck,
Don't put yourself down too much! That link is to MY post and I couldn't find it earlier when I wanted to include it in my post #3 here. But then I don't have to search much here because you or Dusty often post a link to things before I get the read the basic post.

Hi Leonard! The way to find that particular thread is to search for the two words - chest plans. Sometimes the search function on the Forum works. Hope Tom can find what he is looking for.

I have Charlie, and thanks to one and all. I should slap myself for not thinking to do a forum search before making a request. One of those senior moments creeping up on me, I guess...

I no longer have the plans, but your post reminded me that my first major project 20 years ago was a cedar lined chest of mahogany; all mortise and tenons, no hardware except for the handle and lid support. I was completely on my own, as I didn't know anyone else who did wood working, and thought I was in over my head before the end of the first day. We've moved several times and still have it and use it.
