Re: GFCI protected circuits

Years back we used fast blowing fuses in all 220-240 HVAC circuits , to my knowledge there were no 220 v GFI receptacles , there should be a fused disconnect / some had breakers / before each point of use . to my knowledge each point of use was dedicated with a direct feed to the panel , ,,,,,, Does 240 volt outlet in garage need to be GFCI?
For example, GFCI protection is not required for single-phase or three-phase, 240-volt, 30- or 50-ampere receptacles, or similar. During the 2020 NEC code cycle it was substantiated that unintended tripping of GFCI protective devices often creates significant safety issues.
