Found some off-cuts at the Rockler store the other day and though they would work to make some of these large clothes pins. Since I had the shopsmith out for another project I added them to the pile to be cut. This is enough material for 10, two per stick and then there will be some left overs for yet another small project. The wood cost just under $10.

I'll try to make one up to see if the drawings match the springs then if they do I'll get them all cut out. I'm thinking the bandsaw is the way to go and then either the belt sander or the disk sander to clean up those cuts.

Slowly I move closer to having one done. I'm just using a few minutes here and there when I have tools set up for an operation I add a couple of minutes to make some progress. Today I got this far:

Part that was show is wrong, removed it from view.

Got to dig out a spring and see how the fit is. Then perhaps a little sanding and some stain or at least sealer......

Well this didn't end well. And the reason I didn't do all 10 of them at once.

I read the 1-5/16 as 1 15/16............

I think I will do two this way, then fill the bad hole with epoxy and it will look like I meant to do that???? or maybe this will be my pair??

Looks like it still needs some tweaking but much closer.

Almost ready for assembly. Put a finish on them but it is not good drying weather so will have to set a few days.

Finally had time to get a second coat of oil on these and then put them together. I did learn a few things making these and if and it is at this point unlikely that I do another batch they will go much faster. Since they come as 10 springs per batch and I really need only 7 it turned out for the best as a couple of them had issues..... At least I now have the actual dimensions I want figured out.
