Gio800,

Prices for used tools can vary greatly. What is the asking price? Are there others currently available in your area to compare them to? Maybe a hard thing to compare with it having the power stand. The next thing to consider is the condition and is it complete. How long has it been for sale or how fast does the seller want it gone? Even if the price has not dropped the longer it is for sale the lower the seller may be willing to go. Some sellers are set on the price they want for there item and would rather wait for someone willing to pay it no matter how long it takes.

Although it looks to be in good condition you need to consider the things you cannot see. This is especially important in this case since the Jig Saw is no longer in production and replacement parts are no longer being made by Shopsmith. One of the more common parts needing replacement is the Yoke inside the gear box. There have been some made on 3D printers and there is an easy do it yourself fix made out of a chunk of nylon cutting board. Another part to watch is the gasket for the housing cover. This Jig Saw has to have oil in it when operated and a bad gasket can leave you with a puddle of oil under the tool.

Does it have a working motor? Any bearing noise from the motor? What HP is stated on the motor nameplate? Do you want to use the stand for other Shopsmith tools?

The jigsaw looks like it's in very good condition. The stand itself isn't worth much by itself.

For comparison, here's one that needs some restoration work on ebay for $75.50
And here's one already restored on ebay for $260

They asked $225 for both. I think I want to use stand for belt sander or jointer. Which ever one you need to change the speed the least.

I am going to pass. I don't even need one. I get caught up in the Scott Markwood videos and want to buy stuff. I don't think I would ever use it. I am not even a woodworker, I am a mechanical engineer who likes seeing how stuff works and fixing it.
