Will the TayTools replacement blade be the answer? I've lost faith that the stock Stanely blade will ever shape up no matter how much lapping I do. Before I give up on this plane completely, I give the inexpensive blade from Taylor Toolworks a try.

This is the third in a series of video regarding setting up this plane.

Plastic feather boards hit the woodworking scene 40 years ago. Prior to that woodworkers used home made wood finger boards or steel spring type hold downs which were patented in the early 1930's by Delta.

The modern plastic feather boards are fantastic, but on my aluminum table saw, support a limited range of board sizes. The old hold downs are fascinating and support a wide variety of board sizes. But is this old tech still useful?

My Shopsmith table saw has a 1 and 1/8 HP motor. Many woodworking resources recommend full kerf blades for table saws rated at 3 or more horsepower and thin kerf blades for table saws rated less than 3 horsepower. So, I was lead to believe that thin kerf blades would work best. But in practice, I could not detect any performance difference other than the thin kerf blades left behind more saw marks. In this video I attempt to quantify the performance difference between a 24 tooth thin kerf ripping blade with a 50 tooth full kerf combination blade.

My first video investigating kerf size dealt with wood loss and cut quality. - https://youtu.be/NNwjy5OVDKA
