So what brand other then Shopsmith and size are being used for belts link the M5?

Just a suggestion, as you have 5 threads already relating to this Mark V, consider doing a single thread where you can have all the Q & A information on this Mark V in 1 easier to reference spot. This not a requirement just a suggestion I find helpful myself.

The Shopsmith belt appears to be a non-standard width. There are standard width belts available in about the same length, but changing the width will change the speeds once it is set up. As already stated, you would be best off getting the right one from Shopsmith.

I just bought a drive belt from ShopSmith and it’s a bit shorter than the old chewed up belt that it replaced, but that is obviously to be expected. I measured it with my cheap digital caliper and it is 1/2” (.465) wide x 3/8” (.3785) thick. It does have standard belt nomenclature on it, as seen below.

What has Shopsmith done? All I see is a different vendor and I'm not certain of that. Good, Bad or Indifferent until experience determines????
