I also found this on the Shopsmith Troubleshooting and Tip FB page.

The file is too large to post here, but lots of info.
If you look at the top of this forum there is a thread that is pined to the top. It is the second one. It is called "Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More". That is where the document in your link came from. There is much more there. Everett is our document restorer and SS historian.
Outstanding stuff, thank you. The combined knowledge here is incredible

What paint are you using. I like the color and the rough surface.

I have a pair of legs that need some TLC.

Its Rust-oleum Hammered in a silver/grey. Its concealing the roughness on the castings pretty well.

I have a pair of legs that are smooth and I want some texture. That looks like it.

I think the 'texture' is from the original paint(splattered). The areas where it was removed appear 'smooth'. I do not see the 'hammered' look?

Ok guys, goofy question, what's the secret method for releasing the strain relief on the power cord?

its hard to see in the photos and it is smoother in the areas where the corrosion was worse and more of what I assume was the factory finish came off, but it does have a texture. I suppose that I could have wire wheeled the entire thing to take it all off.

They are not all the same. Looking at the clamp from the inside of the motor housing, you'll probably see it has two flat sides and two rounded ends. If yes, then squeeze the rounded ends together (hard) while pushing in and/or pulling out from the out side. At least that's how I do it.
