Pipe Size Table

Some time ago I had a project that required nested pipes and the amount of annular space between them was important. So I had to scrounge around among the many different ID and OD combinations possible in Schedules 40 and 80 pipe sizes to find what I wanted.

To avoid scrounging the next time, I decided to do a full table of all the Schedule 40 and 80 sizes and identify, for each pipe size, the pipe which would slip over the other pipe with the minimum annular clearance.

Table attached. Not the most exciting info in the world, but handy when designing projects which use nested or telescoping sections.

Note that steel and PVC wall thicknesses differ somewhat for the same Schedule and nominal size. Also note that specs specify a "minimum" wall but this can vary upward slightly and thus affect the ID. In all the pipe Schedules, for a given nominal size the OD is held constant.

Thanks Steve, that table could come in very handy someday!
