Question. I'm working an angle. I don't want to spend the $260 bucks for SS's Support Table so I'm thinking I could build one. I noticed on the SS website that they have a conversion kit that will convert the 510 table to the 520. It says it's the brackets that connect it to the 520 table. Has anyone purchased this kit? Is it possible to use the kit and an adjustable leg stand from an outfeed stand and build my own.

Any insight would be great.

I don't think that kit will do a thing for you.

If you search outfeed table you will find a quite a variety of member-designed and built outfeed tables for the 520. There are some very clever ones that automatically adjust height with the main table and even tilt with the main table.

I searched for "outfeed table". I had to go thru 17 pages of results before finding this one.

True, the search yielded anything with the words "outfeed" or "table" (over 180 pages of results).

I stopped when I found this one, as it seemed pretty inclusive of ones I remembered seeing.

Lots of great ideas our there. There are also ways of using the standard 520 parts collection for improved infeed/outfeed support, depending on your needs. Some are in the manual. I used this one from a Doug Reid video several times before later buying the 555997 brackets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg9JazGDRag I still use it occasionally when I want support at a different height than the main table, like matching the surface of a sled.

Doug showed me that one on a webinar. The video he showed mentioned it and showed it in use without explaining how it was done so I asked about it in the follow up. Since I was the only one dialed into the webinar there was plenty of time to talk about that and other subjects. Works with 510 type tables also but at the time I had no extension legs so I would set it up and use a roller stand to hold up the far end of the extension table. The roller stand by itself was good enough for some operations but it help a lot to have that flat table on the outfeed.
