Thanks for all the suggestions. I've ordered a small lathe from eBay that I am hoping foots the bill.
It's a NOS Harbor Freight knockoff of the old "Unimat 1", which was a small, extruded aluminum lathe that was kinda-sorta similar to the Klein lathe. The two big issues we have with the lathe that we need is that it has to be very small and light to earn its place in the family trailer that my daughter's family is using to travel around the USA. I purchased a small WEN mini lathe with hopes that it would work, but it's just too much machine! (Who would have thought?) Thanks again and I'll make sure to report back.

I purchased an old Harbor Freight lathe that was so poorly designed that it would require totally redesigning and rebuilding that it just isn’t worth the effort.

I just saw this post. I have a Bonnie Klein lathe. If any one knows how to get a 2/230 v-belt for it I would appreciate it.
Thank you
