To be honest the disks are not 5" but rather what ever is left when a 5" hole saw is done making them. I'd say 4-13/16" or so. I wanted to make up a batch to see how they would work and had enough material to make 8 of them, so I made 8 of them. I really liked having the powerpro and being able to set the speed down to 475rpm.

In an attempt to organize some sanding disks so I could take a whole range of papers with me when I go out to sand a project I got one of these containers with 5 locations for disks. So with grits of 40,60,80,100,120, 150, 180, 220 and 320 I had way more grits then places to put them. The thing that seemed to make sense was to group the 40-60, 80-100, 120-150,180-220 and then the 320 which is a different type of paper in its own place.

My plan is to use a 5" disk between grits so it will be easy to pick the right papers. The disks seem to have a bit of curl to them so a little weight on them might be a good idea as well..... I'm also thinking of having a few for in the containers with the sanders....... I think I can do another 4 with the material at hand and may have more of it laying around so perhaps another 4 after that.

The material is 1/8" hard board.

I think I remember that each location can hold 50 disk but I think I will limit it to no more then 20 of each grit and the lesser used girts might be more like 10 disk each.

Have to see how this works out later in the year but I have high hopes.

Tell us more about the container. What is it? Where'd you get it? etc

We are in the realm of Festool and the container shown is the one for 125mm or about 5" disks.

They can be gotten at any place the sells Festool. I think it was $72 so not cheap and I know that is more then most people pay for a sander.... but I'm hooked.

I have one mix pack of sanding disks for my RO. 70grit up to 600grit I think. All mixed in that 1 round container they came in, some new, some used, some used so much there is no grit # on them anymore .... this gives me some ideas on how to fix the problem-though I wont be diving into the Festool world

Warm enough to work in the shop for a while today. So what did I do? A little clean up and made some more hardboard in the about 5" size and some 3.5"(90mm) disks.
I also added some labels to the inside of the container. They are just stick on so if things change that is just fine.
I've also ordered one of these for my RO90 sanding disks. This is capture of the item, mine will come minus the disks but the same layout so I can store both disk types. $54 and I used it to get my free postage from Axminster.
Guess I will have to work out a hardboard design for that as well.

More information once I have it in hand.
