Recommendations for Miter Gauge for 510

My 'new' SS Mark V model 510 (a 1994 model) came without a number of the normal parts - one being a miter gauge. I like the SS one quite a bit but, since I need to buy a new one, I thought I might expand my horizons a bit and see what else is out there before committing one way or the other.
So what recommendations do you folks out there have? Let 'er rip.

MAKE SURE it will fit a SS. The miter bar is for the SS is slightly smaller than than .75 inches that most are.

Recently i saw where reible posted the width of the miter slot. Shoot Ed a PM.
I hardly use my miter gauge now that I have the crosscut sled, but I'm sure the need will arise when I get into more detailed projects.

Give some consideration to the Incra Miter Gauge 2000, Shopsmith Part Number 522161A. It is being sold right now at a reduced price, $173.32.

Hi,
Buy the shopsmith one. If sometime in the future you decide you need something else get it then.
First the shopsmith one fits ALL of the shopsmith items with miter slots, so if you get an old OPR or Joint-Matic or a modern belt sander... well it all fits.
Second the gauge is one of the better ones on the market anyway.
Third the clamping idea is great, and it works great...
Forth it can be locked in place in the miter slot.
I could go on but as a shopsmith owner you want and need the shopsmith version, be it new or used.

So WHAT happens with the different items? People buy a MKV and then find out it's missing the basic stuff.

I have the Incra 2000, I prefer it for most Miter Gauge uses. But, The SS miter guage comes in handy, because you are able to tighten the set screw and keep it in the same spot such as horizontal drilling pen blanks, etc.

In any event, get a std issue ss mitre gauge. You can either buy a NEW one from SS or a used one on Ebay... Make sure you know NEW price b4 bidding. There are two versions. Only the later ones have the 't washer'. There are two versions of the hold down clamp. The newer one is more convenient(sliding parts not threaded).
As has already been mentioned, it is used on more than just the main saw table!:)

Whatever you do, don't leave a board locked on the miter gauge, then try to close the garage door to keep the neighbor's cat out.
Resulting in the miter gauge bar getting bent.
That Darn Cat!
Luckily I had another miter gauge bar to replace it with.
I'm a maroon.

The SS miter guage will probably be your best choice. If you really want to "upgrade" though, get Incra's MiterSled 5000. It is the biggest miter guage offered, that fits on the SS with no modifications (normal installation withstanding). On sale now for $317.51.
