SS Factory Overstock Sale

This sale included the Nova G3 hard plastic storage case at 50% off. My SS G3 came in the cardboard box. I ordered it yesterday at 5pm local. I got an immediate email confirmation of the order. This morning I got an email at 10:45am local that it had shipped. I also got an email from my credit card company at the same time saying a charge was made.

We hear about all kinds of SS shipping horror stories. I thought I would give a good report.

Thanks for the heads up. In secondary news, the Service Parts table has the PowerPro Headstock exploded diagram and parts list.

Wow, PP service parts list is big news! I'm still running fine since 2010, but I'd heard the more positive-action keypad might be more pleasant to use.

I agree...it is great to finally have access to the parts list and parts diagram for the PP. I didn't know the keypad had changed. Do you know when this occurred? I never liked the membrane keypad on the PP, at least the couple of times I tried it in the past. Wondering if I might like the new keypad better...

Didn't know about a new key pad either. A new one is $100. Not terribly bad and I'm pretty sure I'll need one someday.

I might spring for a new key pad if I new a little more about the differences.

With practically the same results as jsburger I placed my order late in the day yesterday, received the Shipped notification email at 11:30AM ET today. Pretty good response. And inspired by jpdalton's Magna memorabilia thread and the sale price I ordered a Shopsmith T-shirt also.

I thought about that T-shirt but I really need the Easter code sale for some bandsaw parts and that scrollsaw blade change upgrade (I was gonna stick with the blocks but they really are a pain)

I appreciate that Easter code sale so I will get those ordered tomorrow for sure.

Did your order include a new keypad? Something I've been wondering about... We see a software version as the machine boots up. I don't really know if this represents the software of the main controller (aka power supply) or of the display/keypad itself. It would be interesting to know this with certainty if you acquire a new keypad.

Note - I have a power supply on order but I'm told to expect it to take months. And I have no reason to expect different software, it will only be a couple of years newer than my under-performing one. But I noticed a software version on the inspection label and it looks nothing like the version number that shows up in the display during startup.

No keypad ordered yet, it's not a great need so far, but it will tempt me at some point. I think the power supply has it's own logic separate from the interface on the keypad so there may be two version numbers to deal with. They would want to have had the power supply logic common to all uses of the motor so I imagine the logic on the keypad provides the settings data to the power supply logic and controls the user interface only. I really want to learn more. I found some info from Striatech about the available settings then lost it, I'm sure it's still online. Not sure if applied to the 1-3/4HP motors or just their smaller version, have to find that stuff. I don't believe I will ruin anything by trying settings changes but I'm cautious enough to keep searching for info until I'm satisfied I have a good picture of the system. It's only a little digital motor controller.
