Part for model 610 jigsaw needed

The plastic yoke on the yoke bracket assembly (part # 612300) broke this morning while I was cutting 1/4" masonite w/the jigsaw.
Does anyone have a yoke bracket assembly that they can part with? Bill Mayo? I would be happy to purchase one or swap a set of planer blades for one. Thanks! Alec

I have not been able to find a source for the plastic yoke. I have some material to make these yokes but not done it yet. Yes, I have complete housings. I have seals, bearing and bushings for the jig saw. I have been making gaskets for the housing as all the jig saws I buy have leaked oil. I am willing to sell or swap housings. Contact me off-line for prices.

i have my son's saw open and it sounds like i'm needing the same part as i found broken bits of plastic when i opened the case. i'm thinking if bill has an unbroken sample it could possibly be made from a hard wood as well as plastic. seen the lignum vitae band saw blocks advertised? if lignum vitae can be used as bearings on ships it might hold up to a scroll saw. dosen't seem like too much of a gamble. but hey i've been wrong before.

bettyt - I wonder if a wooden yoke wouldn't heat up to much though - I think its a pretty tight fit on the drive shaft and man that thing moves fast!

Hi,
I have the manual for mine out and I can not find any part with the number shown.
In fact I have no parts that start with a 6. The manual is copyrighted 1965. Just trying to figure out what part is being talked about.

lignum vitae is a very heavy dense oily wood. since the original part was made of plastic i'm confident that a hard wood might do the job. i figure there are no more available from shopsmith so what do i have too lose? a little time but i'm retired and get paid weakly. if space permits i'm thinking maybe a small sealed bearing on the eccentric. looking forward to working with the master next week.

Ed my jigsaw manual and it's expoded parts schematic are by Magna, c.1959. Perhaps Shopsmith later changed the part numbers. In any case, the yoke assembly is inside the drive shaft assembly housing. The plastic part that broke is part of the 90 degree connection between the drive shaft assembly (driven by the spt coupler) and the lower chuck shaft. Alec

A fellow user was able to get the yoke from Shopsmith last year, though it may have been the last one they had in stock. I would check with them to be sure. There is one Ebay seller, Simon Eng, that also had one at that time.
