Can the SS machine covers be washed and if so what’s the best way?

I haven't washed one yet but need to. I have a Mark V cover I bought used that had been washed prior to me owning it. It is pinkish in color and was probably washed with some red rags. I would recommend not doing that and wash them alone or with other Shopsmith Tool covers. Actually there is one I have washed which is an original cotton canvas cover for the Model 10's. I'll wash a Mark V cover this week and report back.

Isn't there a red logo on the cover that could run? When I was kid 100 years ago or so my mom would wash my sneakers in the machine and the red ball logo on them would turn them pink. Probably want to wash with cold water anyway.

Because of the way the logo is added to the cover I don't believe it caused the cover to turn pinkish. Cold water would be a good choice though.

I just took the Mark cover out of the washer and it looks great. I washed it in cold water. It is an older cover, lighter gray and not the same feel of the material currently being used. No problem with the logo as, I believe, they are silk screened on. It is now in the dryer on low temp but could be line dried if desired. :)

Below is a picture of the pink Mark V Cover with a corner of the cover turned inside out. Notice it is white and this particular cover is one with a coated underside.

In going out just now and looking at the covers I have for my Shopsmith Mark's and SPT's there are a number of different materials used over the years. The one I just washed may be the same as the pink Mark cover having a coated underside but different material than my other Mark cover. The 10+ SPT covers I have from over the years used at least 4 different materials. This does not include the OEM cotton canvas cover for my Model 10ER. With this in mind still use caution washing you covers.

The cover is now dry and looks great. Ready to go back on a Tool. :D

I’ve washed all of mine a bunch of times with no issues. Warm water regular cycle and toss them in the dryer when done.
