MV 500 Saw Guard Mounting Block

Post by judebak »

Hello,
Last year I purchased the upgraded upper and lower saw guard for the model 500. The mounting block for the upper guard broke the other day (actually it shattered into 20 pieces!) and I went to shopsmith.com and they no longer carry that part (part number 513500). Does anyone have that part that they would be interested in selling? Or does anyone have the capability of making one with a 3D printer?
Thank you,

Your best bet is to watch for it on the used part market. They do come up for sale from time to time and more often with other parts of the Guard then by themselves. Check any ad with some or all of the 505875 Saw Guard to see if it is included. It may also be found on table parts for sale still mounted to the post and tie bar.

Here’s what you’re looking for, but shipping is a little high.

Or are you looking for the part that mounts on the table support?

The part judebak references (P/N 513500) is the Upper Saw Guard Mounting Block as shown below. Unfortunately like many parts for the Mark 5/V aka 500 original table system this one appears to no longer be available. It can still be found here on the Shopsmith website in the parts list for the 505875 Saw Guard System but there is no buy link there. You could try calling Shopsmith to check if maybe there is still one in stock. In the list it is part reference number 188 with part number 513500 described as MV 500 Saw Guard Mounting Block priced at $7.55 as it is described in the parts list for the 505875 Saw Guard System.

Here is one with the table support posts, and it looks like you can get it for a reasonable price, and free shipping, which is surprising.

Judebak,

The ebay sale Marc provided the link to may be one of the best options to be found depending on how long you are willing to wait to get a replacement. The seller is someone I have done business with before and have found him reliable. If you go with this, you will have an extra table insert and other table system parts. They could come in handy in the future as Shopsmith no longer makes most of the replacement parts for the original aka 500 Table System.

I would still recommend calling Shopsmith first to see if they have any new ones available. They still make the upgrade for this saw guard system going from one 1-1/4" dust collection port to two 2-1/2" dust collection ports but apparently not the complete saw guard system itself.
