Thanks to Russ for the post identifying Shopsmith arbors, viewtopic.php?p=260771#p260771. I think I have a 505506 version 2 and version 4.

The next picture adds a 555608 to the mix just to compare the left side blade registration to the headstock, whether a standard blade or dado set. Registrations are the same.

The universal arbor version 2 will clear the tie bar when the headstock is against the rubber bumper but the version 4 will not and has to be manually adjusted. This is not a problem unless you made your zero clearance insert using version 2 and then use version 4 the next time around like me :o . I didn't get a picture of version 4 mounted. I also believe any of the universal or dado arbors have to be set manually on Mark 5/500's. As a side note I noticed my 10ER universal arbors do not seat fully on the Mark 5 and up models, they bottom out on the shaft before seating against the spindle knob.

I don't have or can't find my 520 dado insert so I used my 500 stuff for the pictures. This is bumped against the rubber stop and using the universal arbor version 2. I know the dado set is rubbing the right side of the tablesaw insert but a regular blade would fit without issue. I usually use my own zero clearance inserts anyway. Back to setting up my dado for box joints

Larry,

In the first picture you are correct. That is version 4 of the 5/8" Arbor on the left and version 2 on the right. Nice comparison with the 5/8" Arbor 555608 showing the blade spacing for them.
