I am finally beginning to accumulate all of the tools that I believe I need. This has been a long drawn out process and it has been riddled with err.

I thought that it might be helpful to some if they could see a summary of those tools that each of us has come to depend upon other than their table saw.

In responding to this question, remember that multiple entries can be made. If you have one of everything listed, you can indicate that. Unfortunately, if you have multiple copies of a tool (such as three 10ERs), there is no way to indicate that.

In addition to my SS jointer, I also have a planer, band saw and dust collector that are not Shopsmith brand. I wouldn't really call the dust collector an SPT since it cannot be powered by the SS, but that's splitting hairs, I know.

You forgot the jigsaw.

I guess I am unsure of what is the difference between a Power Station and a Power Stand. I am sure my unit is a Power Station, but then again I always hate to ASSUME something Can someone enlighten me as to differences.

A Power STAND is usually a stand alone stand containing a motor and pulley(s) and belt(s) to power a singel(dual) spt(s). The speed is only controlled by changing the pulley diameters etc.

A Power STATION(and a crafters station) has a single motor BUT has a variable speed mechanism built in. SPTs are connected to the motor output shaft by the same couplers/hubs as a SS. The speed range(850 3850rpm) is less than that of the SS.

The Crafters STATION is a Power Station with a saw table added and a reversible motor(with two power switches).

Dusty, I gave my reply and found I had most of the SPT's. I also have a Jig Saw which was not listed. It will do many of the functions of a Scroll saw which I don't have. The Planner is mounted on a power stand, and the Jig saw is on a power station. I have been thinking of mounting one of the more often used tools on that power station. All of this equipment has been acquired second hand and I realize that I need to clean and adjust it all before much use. I have also acquired the DVD's which will be so valuable in preparing the tools for service. Thanks for undertaking the survey.

Dave, thank you for participating in the poll. I also want to apologize to you and everyone else in the forum for whatever shortcomings there may be in this poll. I listed ten (10) items because that is all the poll software facilitates. The items listed were chosen because those are the ones with which I am most familiar. Fortunately, the only function served here is to make each of us a little bit more aware of what the rest of us do and sort of identify who might be able to help us with our questions about the equipment.

jpg, thanks for setting me straight on ident. of these two. So now I really do know that what I have is actually a Power Station, which is what I thought.

As I do knot own a SS bandsaw, I did knot "vote" for it; however, I do have 2 bandsaws that are knot SS.

I also have the oscilating drum sander attachment which I do like for doing my curved sanding. Please I do understand the limit just thought I would add this for others to see.
