I am a little late commenting here since I was on vacation and returned home yesterday. Vacation also includes no computer.

Just a couple things I wanted to add. John mentioned the Manual is available on Everett's google drive through Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More. Joel you should use the Completed Magna Model 10E Restored Owner's Manual and not the Preliminary MAGNA Shopsmith Manual Restored which came with those original 250 tools. Good job using the Extension Pins (P/N 109-2) and the Wing Nuts (P/N 109-3) to attach the Fence to the wood Extension Table. The Washers that were on the one Extension Pin #11 are not used with it or the other Shopsmith OEM parts. The Arbors 5 & 6 are the later ones for the Model 10's and 6 is missing the nut and two machined washers.

Thanks Russ, that all makes sense, and the documentation on Everett's drive are a fantastic resource.

I am.99.9% done with the rebuild now and everything is working great, i did my first test run last night with an old pine 4x4 i had laying around.

Very satisfying to see this thing come back to working order.

I am also happy with the new paint job, but i went completely modern so it is bound to anger a few people on here. I am finishing the SS emblem and I will post pictures.

So if i am understanding you - this machine came from the east factory and was not part of the original 250 for Wards since those would be 10s, not 10Es?

Do you know if the east factory also started with #1000 making mine #143 off the line there?

I hope no one objects to you straying from the vibrant and exhilarating gray.

I suppose I'll be disappointed if no one is offended 🤣

The badge is painted now too, just needs touchup.

How can i tell if this is the original extension table?

The plywood is antique, but i am not sure if it is 1948 antique.

Joe,

It is correct that serial numbers with the E prefix like yours came from the Eastern Plant. Yours at E1143 is the lowest I have knowledge of but on Skip Campbells survey list there is an E1032. It is possible that the Eastern Plant Serial Numbers started at 1001 too. What is unknown is at what serial number the Western Plant was at when the Eastern Plant began production. As I mentioned previously yours has the second version of the Headstock. The first production models starting at 1001 (no prefix) are Model 10E's. There were some pre-production units that varied somewhat from the first production units which were used in the factory and I believe at least one is still in use. Since I live in Oregon the Model 10E's and 10ER's I see were mostly made in the Western Plant.

Your plywood extension table looks identical to my 10E. (except for the weathered part)

P.S. Your miter gauge looks third party.

My recollection is they were dark Blue, not gray.

Yes I was exposed to them back then.(early 50's)
