Selling Shopsmith 10E
What's the best way to go about selling my Shopsmith 10E? I live in Vermont, USA.

Re: Selling Shopsmith 10E
linclinc,
Because of its size and weight, it is an item best sold locally. Shipping it would be costly. I sell my restored Shopsmith's on craigslist, but other local sites could be good to try also. Include pictures that show it with all of the parts that come with it. As the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words. Good, clear pictures will show potential buyers it's condition, included accessories and even around when it was made if you include a picture of the Logo/Serial Number Plate. Don't clutter the pictures with other things not included in the sale.
Finally, thank you for only asking advice on selling your Model 10E here as this isn't the place for selling it.

Thank you, Russ, for your input. It's a sweet little workhorse so I hope I can find a new home for it. I have all the original documentation and typed manual, and lots of accessories. I don't have an idea about price, however. It looks like similar models range from $500 to $6,000. That's a big range.

Re: Selling Shopsmith 10E
I see prices all over the place too. Currently near me there are only two Model 10's for sale. One is priced at $250 and the other is $500 with more extras. Both have been for sale for over a month. That can be indication of what potential buyers think of the prices. $500 to $6,000 is quite a large range and I find it high to "are you joking." Some sellers must think their Shopsmith is made of gold. Remember this is the asking price and not what they may actually sell it for. When I sell a restored Model 10E or 10ER it is with all the accessories it would have come with originally, on a bench and I sell them for less than the prices you have seen. Maybe I could sell them for more, but I restore them as a hobby because I enjoy doing it and not to make money.
There are things that can make one Shopsmith more desirable over another. When it was made can be one of those. Any special accessories can be another. Do you know the Serial Number of yours?

Just wanted to jump into the discussion. Although not on the same scale as Russ, I do restorations and preservations of these machines, and being here in New England, I’m a little more local to you than Russ!
I just finished a 10-E project, and would be interested in discussing acquiring your machine. May I reach out to you with a private message to get some more details?
