I was looking over a Lathe Steady Rest on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/125462858192?e ... SwU8xi-GCZ) and have a question. In the last photo, attached below, there are two holes in the post ~4" apart. The post looks otherwise similar to a standard tool rest post. What are the holes for?
I looked closely at a picture on the mothership's site and it also appears to have the holes. https://www.shopsmith.com/itempics/ljpg ... 55280l.jpg But they are not being used.(?) Still closer inspection reveals that the tool rest post may also have the holes.

Re: Lathe Steady Rest Question
David,
I have no idea what the holes in the Lathe Tool Rest Post are for. I bought my Steady Rest setup new from Shopsmith not that long ago and it does not have those holes in the post. Mine also has the newer arm with two post positions like the one for sale and the lever locks instead of set screws.
