I don't think the Total Shop speed changer is compatible with Shopsmith parts, and with Total Shop out of business, replacement might be difficult. I recommend talking to Bill Mayo (he posted earlier in this thread and you should be able to get contact info from there). He might have some parts or at least some advice.

Hello Bill Mayo, I've got my hands on a Total Shop woodworking Machine, but with no manuals. How would I be able to maybe get information on this unit? Go NAVY 1988-2008.
Thanks for any advice.

Sorry to say the Bill Mayo has passed away. Best bet is a forum search...

Does anyone out there still have any parts for a Total Shop 6 inch jointer made by North American Tool Company Greenville S.C. ? Bearing housing broken. Trying to repair to use with Shopsmith MarkV 510.Short of finding part or having one machined (ouch)might make a good boat anchor.

There was a complete, very good condition, Total Shop 6" jointer listed on eBay less than a year ago. I think they are rarely seen advertised for sale.

I don't know why I ever saw this post and your link before but I have now. I just read through the thread in the link. I am really impressed with the work that you have done on your Total Shop. Very informative thread.

All,

My father-in-law wants to pass his Total Shop to me. I understand that they really aren't worth the gas to pick it up but sometimes you do things to appease family. I'm picking this thing up this weekend. It's in a basement and I'm wondering what the weight of the headstock is. Basically a one man job or two man?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would recommend two if NOT disassembling for transport.

I do plan on disassembling it before moving.
