JPG, thanks for the info! I mounted the sanding disk and used a large flat screwdriver to spread the gap between arbor and collar (i.e. push the collar back on the spindle). Simultaneously tightened the setscrew...so just one task per hand.

Got the spindle play down to a few thousandths. Thanks!
