520 main table upgrade issue

Post by judebak »

Hello,
I just purchased a 520 main table for my old model 500. I also bought the upper and lower saw guards. When installing the lower guard I couldn't get the saw arbor to fully seat on the quill due to the guard being in the way-see pictures. Is there something I need to adjust on the quill or the guard to make this work?

You need saw blade arbors for the 520 table system. They are longer than the 500 table system arbors. The 520 table is larger than the 500 table. For that reason it requires longer arbors.

Besides needing to change the 1-1/4" Saw Blade Arbor part number 505511 to the longer 1-1/4" Saw Blade Arbor P/N 555130 there are other changes you will need if you use them. If you use 5/8" arbors for saw blades there is a longer Arbor P/N 555608 to use that replaces P/N 555321. The steel Sanding Disk needs a longer Hub (arbor) to be able to take advantage of using the lower guard for dust collection. A nice feature of the lower saw guard. The longer Hub Sanding Disk is the only one now sold. The longer Hub (P/N 514493) itself can be purchased to update an older Steel Sanding Disk. The older Aluminum Sanding Disks cannot be used with the lower guard.
