Lock Lever
I'm slowly cleaning and repairing various pieces of the 10ER I recently purchased. Is there a way to disassemble the lock levers so I can clean them?
Re: Lock Lever
There are a couple of different styles. Which one do you have? A picture will help.

Re: Lock Lever
Is it not safe to assume "all lock levers"?

Re: Lock Lever
There is one that locks the quill in place and another that locks the headstock in place. The angle on the handle of each is slightly different but they both have the same construction. And for the life of me, I cant see a way to get the pieces apart without being or breaking something. Having trouble posting a picture. Is there a trick to it? I have one, I just don't see a way to add it!

Re: Lock Lever
How's this. Thanks for your patience
Re: Lock Lever
That is exactly what I thought. The opening in the wedge gets squeezed closed after years of tightening the lock. This is the fix from the Model 10 guru Skip Campbell (mkctools.com). I have used this many times and it works perfectly. You need a 1/4" pin punch. Lay the shaft of the punch horizontally on the long opening of the wedge. Tap gently until the full diameter of the punch shaft enters the opening. The handle will easily come out then.
His procedure is explained on his web site here.

Re: Lock Lever
I have had Single Wedges get stuck on the levers too. I have used Skips way of removing them with success. It just takes spreading the slot back open a little bit. Do be careful not to spread the slot open too much or the wedge will not fit back into the Headstock or Carriage.
