Anyone out there ever built a replacement main table for a 500. I'm thinking of building a replacement table that more closely matches the table found on the 510 or 520.

Sounds like it would be expensive compared to buying a used used 510 table and fence. If the 500 table was longer, you would need a new fence too.

I have been using the Mark VII main and extension tables which link/attach together as one table on my 500s. This gives me wider and longer main table and uses the MKVII fence. Both Mark VII trunnions have locks instead of only the front trunnion on the 500 table. The angle gauge and fence lock ends up on the back side of the 500 but I have not found this to be a problem for me.

I believe there is a 510 main table currently for sale on ebay. For myself I would forgo a used table and simply purchase the 520 upgrade kit directly from Shopsmith. It would likley be less expensive than building your own and you will have a complete well balanced system. fjimp

I can buy a used SS 510 or 520 for less money than one of the upgrade kits. Just trying to save a little money and play with my welders.

Yea -- I've had the same feeling. I sized some adjustable painting extension poles last night at WallyWorld and after a few "scientific" tests . . . I think I could make them into extendable poles for the missing ones on my Shopsmith 510. Hmmmm . . . .

Is there an in-feed extension for the 500?
