Re-purpose Mark V headstock tube clamps?

Post by Mudder »

Have a spare (bad) Mark V headstock and wondering if its design allows it to be cut down to re-use the lower section with tube locks as a base to fabricate a low profile clamping table to slide on tubes? Anything solid enough to work with? Want to keep the main table as-is. Thanks.

I think a 'spare' table carriage would work out better.

The headstock casting is a bit thin.
