Jigsaw Housing Breather Hole

Has anyone considered drilling a small hole into the breather "channel" from the inside of the housing? This could circumvent the problem of blocking the end of the breather channel with a replacement housing cover gasket.

Yeah! That should make a great oil spray source and provide a method of removing 'excess' oil from the crank case.

I have not considering doing that since I have or had the OEM Gasket on my Jig Saws I have owned. However, I do not see a problem doing that. The picture below is one I took yesterday for a different thread about the Jig Saw. If a hole was drilled (behind the left arrow) into the hole that the outside vent hole (indicated by the right arrow) connects to it should work okay. This part of the housing is above the oil level when properly filled.

Nothing against the Hormel variety. My mother made it all the time growing up in the 50's. She only made it when dad was away on a business trip. Most WWII vets didn't care too much for it.. :D

My dad worked for Swift & Co. so we ate "Prem". I liked it fried (still do).

There was a recipe on the Spam can. You scored the big side of the loaf in a diamond pattern and poked whole cloves in the diamonds. Then there was a brown sugar glaze poured over it and baked in the oven. That recipe was on the can for YEARS. That is how Mom always made it. Haven't had it in a long time but would eat it again now.
