Did Shopsmith make a 10er dust cover?

Post by donpol »

I used to own a 10er, and when I bought it it came with a cloth dust cover. I sold the machine a few years ago and recently found the dust cover in my shop.
I can’t find any Shopsmith logos or tags, it’s just a plain white material.
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows if this could be an actual Shopsmith item or if they ever made a dust cover for the 10er?
I’m already familiar with the covers they made for the mark v. this is not one of those.

Yes, they made a dust cover for the Model 10. Not sure if it had a logo or not. Russ or JPDalton will chine in with the answer. I think they both have one.

Yes, as John said Magna did make a Dust Cover for the Model 10's. I have one that came in the original box which is made of light canvas type cloth and does not have a logo. The picture below is the only picture I have of the cover on a Model 10. It is on the first Model 10 I restored and still have S/N R64000.

I did make a replica cover patterned after it for my Model 10E S/N 1077 about 4 years ago. I need to get or make one for my newly restored Model 10E S/N 1076. I have not seen them for sale very often so I will likely have to make another one. Are you looking at selling the one you have?
Russ

Mark V completely upgraded to Mark 7
Mark V 520
All SPT's & 2 Power Stations
Model 10ER S/N R64000 first one I restored on bench w/ metal ends & retractable casters.
Has Speed Changer, 4E Jointer, Jig Saw with lamp, a complete set of original accessories & much more.
Model 10E's S/N's 1076 & 1077 oldest ones I have restored. Mark 2 S/N 85959 restored. Others to be restored.

Chapmanruss,
Thanks for sharing the photo. That's just like the one I have. I don't really have any use for it, so I will probably sell it. I just didn't want to list it online without knowing what it was.

10-ER Dust Cover, Part No. 183-1

Sorry, I’m late to the thread on this one… Yes, Magna did offer a dust cover for the 10-ER! I’ve seen them both with and without the Shopsmith logo.

This is one of the “with” logo style that I acquired - new in box! Hard to believe that someone could splurge $3.75 on one of these babies and not use it!
