Can anyone give me some advice on stopping oil leak at expansion plug? My saw is from January 1958.

It is reference number 80, part number 502267 on parts list for 610. Can a cap be placed over the shaft to keep from leaking?

The Expansion Plug is that disk in the bottom of the Lower Housing below the Lower Chuck Shaft. The Reference Number varies by Manual version and the part number for a 1958 Jig Saw was 2160. After the part numbers change in 1964 it was 502267. Same parts just different part numbers.

Oil seeps by the Lower Chuck Shaft where it goes through the bottom of the Lower Housing and collects above the Expansion Plug. During use oil lubricates the Lower Chuck Shaft as it cycles up and down in the sleeve of the Lower Housing. My 1980 Jig Saw drips oil out around that Expansion Plug. Not much at all but while stored I keep a plastic container below it to catch the drips.
