Name that Jig...

Post by WoodTri »

Purchased a Mark V 500 (which looks like it has some 510 upgrades). Included were a jointer, bandsaw and belt sander.

Along with all the other parts and pieces were some homemade jigs. I have no idea what these were used for but if someone went to the trouble of making them, I'm guessing they might be useful in the future.

My challenge? I have no idea what these do. Can you help me figure out how they were used?

Thanks!

The 2 smaller ones look like stop blocks for cross cuts. The one with the second piece of wood on the side for a piece of wood attached to the miter gauge and the other for on the fence. The large one is a home made tenon jig that slides on the fence.

I agree with Brenda although I am not sure about the one on the left in pictures 1 thru 3. It has no clamping for a stop block.

Maybe the one with the groove was a spacer to set up a router bit or dado blade.

I would say the leftmost jig is for making tenons on board ends at 90 degrees (though it could be a little longer for more support on the fence) . Which was later replaced with the larger variable angle tenon jig in the last pic.

I think b is right. That explains the dado cut too.

Thanks everybody,

You've given me a great head start on figuring it out. Once I get this machine rebuilt, I'll play with setting these jigs up. At that point it should become a lot clearer.
