If you hadn't shown the close-up I would have said it looks perfect. :)

Seriously though it looks good for a first effort and your mistakes are why I have yet to try a nice box.

Good job.

Roy Underhill's advice for perfect woodworking is: hold it at an angle such that the camera can't see the defects, put your thumb over anything egregious, and say "That's all the time we have, see you next week!" ;-)

And don't point it out. If you do do point it out don't say "Look closer" after they say "I don't see anything wrong". And definitely don't get out a ruler and a flashlight so you can prove it's off center after they say "I think the game started again, let's go watch that now".

Your mistakes look huge to you but others may not notice at all.

It looks good. I like the combo of contrasting inserts and rounding of the corners, an attractive look. If miters were easy the marketplace wouldn't be full of accessories to help you make them perfect! Did you route the miters on the Mark or do you have a dedicated router table?

I like the contrasting wood. Nice detail on the top which I find unique over a plain flat top.

Nice job! And note the explanation of Gale's Law in my signature.
