9 inch aluminum sanding disc?

Post by steverboss »

Does anybody know if Shopsmith ever made a 9 inch aluminum sanding disc back in the early days? I have one, but I wasn’t sure if it’s Shopsmith brand. I know they made a larger aluminum sanding disc, but just not sure about the 9 inch model. It has 804033 cast into it as a possible old SS part number? See attached photos. Any info is much appreciated.

As Ron indicated there was a 9" Sanding Disk made for the Radial Arm Saw. I don't believe the one you have is from Yuba or Magna American, the companies making the Shopsmith line during the time the SawSmith Radial Arm Saw was in production. That Sanding Disk had either part number 27 101 or 505549 depending on if it was made before or after the part numbers changed. A picture of the SawSmith Radial Arm Saw 9" Sanding Disk is shown below.

Following... these are pretty hard to find based on trying to find parts for my SawSmith RAS. Thanks for posting pictures.

If anyone is interested in purchasing this 9 inch aluminum sanding disc, let me know before I post it on eBay. I’d rather sell it inexpensively to one of my fellow Shopsmith forum people because you guys have helped me enormously over the years.

Hey there, don’t know if you still are looking for information, but this disc looks like a Craftsman part/casting number. 5/8 arbor single set screw. I would be interested in purchasing if you still have as mine warped and then broke in the flattening process. Thanks much. EBAR123
