How do I install the upper saw guard on this 84' model 500?

I'm setting my new to me 84' Mark V model 500 in table saw mode. I attached all the lower saw guards and the riving knife, but cannot figure out how the clear upper guard attaches.
Looks like there's a pin that fits through the hole in the riving knife, but it seems to be fixed in place by some hardware I can't identify.

I've looked through the instructions but haven't found anything specific about how this attaches.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure what it is called, but looks like some sort of a retaining clip that just needs to be pried open slightly to let it disengage from the groove in which it must be seated. I have not tried removing mine, but looks like a small flat blade screwdriver should work.
Looks like yours may have two retaining clips (one looks like it may have been spread open before), whereas mine has one clip and the other end of the pin has a flat head.
I bought my guard used, and the clear blade guard with it's "U" shaped arm was already attached to mounting plate/splitter.
EDIT 5/21/23: Curiosity made me try to find a name for this type of fastener (X-Ring). Found this website
https://www.huyett.com/all-products/ret ... gs/x-rings and attached is a brief description. You may need to find new one(s) or use a different type of fastener after it is removed, since the description says they are a single use item and should not be reused.

Hey br549... thanks so much for the answer. Amusingly enough, I finally figured it out on my own by searching the Mcmaster-Carr catalog. They are also known as crimp-on external retaining rings.

I removed one of the X-washers with the pliers, then squeezed it back shut. It did work, but you are right that these are *supposed* to be single-use. I will replace it as soon as I get some spares. The guard is on, though!
