ironwood

Post by noithattogi »

greeting

I just received the Workbench, Volume 80, Issue 6, Issue 500, which I have not read, but has an article about cypress. Its main point is: "Create long-lasting outdoor projects with materials that are easy to work with but won't rot.

Pros: No rot, No need to paint (but can), No Defects, Easy to cut and machine, Available.

Not sure of OP's intent, but s/he did lead me to the long-defunct Workbench magazine which has the entire 316 (or 317?) issue library available at a reasonable price.

Is anyone familiar with this magazine and electronic library, worthwhile or not? Is the online library downloadable as PDFs or must one get the USB drive to get the PDFs?

I have the DVD version, before they offered the USB drive. It has online access and the pdf's can be download from either. I don't remember when I bought it. Workbench is part of the August Publisher group which includes Shopnotes and Woodsmith. The online version is not as clear as the pdf. Online is very handy and available wherever I am, but if I'm going to print a plan I run the DVD. I like being able to zoom in and just print what part of the plan I want. I can't say I use often but I like having it. Below are screen captures of the both versions zoomed to 300%.

Thanks for the info, Larry. Think I'll go ahead and get it w/out the USB drive. I have the entire catalog of both Shopnotes and Woodsmith as well as active subscriptions to both.
