Never heard of John Malecki before. Watching his video reminded me of a monkey playing with a wristwatch.

That video of John's was just too much to stay quiet about, though I do believe that Tom from the @WoodshopNerdery channel did a much better job rebutting it.

As HopefulSSer said
I did watch John's video and it seemed like he went out of his way to willfully misunderstand or misrepresent nearly everything he complained about. As Doc says, obvious hit job. He started with the premise that SS is a POS and then set out to "prove" it.
I watched it too and I believe HopefulSSer's assessment is spot on. It may be, as other have said, a ploy to get more viewers and may have worked since I watched it like several of us now have. I would not watch his videos otherwise. If I want to be entertained, I would look elsewhere and as mentioned already I too like Scott's videos for the information he provides on Shopsmith tools.

Scott, that picture of the early Power Couplers looks familiar.

I bet it does! I forgot to give attribution this time, but I have in the past. I'll add a comment in the description.

Watch a few of his videos not just one. Take a gander at his play ground. It is not a garage shop by any means. No place for a Shopsmith.

Malecki's video was hard to take. Not the first one I've seen depicting the Mark as dangerous by misusing it or using it carelessly. Maybe it was parody as Mike suggests. The most dangerous 'tool' in the shop is the woodworker who isn't careful around cutting tools. A couple of my favorites:
'I don't like that the drill press is left handed.'
'Why is the coupler running at an angle?'
'It vibrates.'
'No support out here.' (Referring to the tailstock he didn't install?)
'I guarantee that's the setscrew.'
And the recurring criticism of the coupler being plastic. I have one that's older than he is. And that's not exceptional. It's also less dangerous.

There were a lot of criticisms of the machine. User error in every case, except perhaps 'I don't like that the power switch is over there.' What my dad would have called "loose nut behind the wheel."

I like Mikes assessment.

Hard to tell where a youtuber ends, and a real person begins but I think Mike falls clearly on the "real person" side of this one.
