Its been a good while since I've been on the forum but I've kept watch.
I searched for a simple tool to remove staples from the back of a curved front curio cabinet I'm refinishing but didnt like what I was finding.
An awl left a scar, you can see it in pic #2, a screwdriver would have been worse.
Here is the simplest solution my shop would provide.
Unexpectedly, rolling the vicegrip left no scar.

Just a thought. If necessary a thin scrap could be placed under vice grips to assure no damage.

I've used a plastic hotel door key or any gift card, etc. to do this. No damage. You can also use them to spread glue, frosting on muffins (easier than a spatula) and just toss it when finished. Use pinking shears to notch some or spreading glue over a wide area.
