I agree. I wish he would have at least finished with the headstock he started the video with, it is same as mine, old style motor mounts. Seems like a lot of work to add the fuse and reset switch. I have never had any overheating problems with mine but haven’t done any routing or extended runtimes. I would be tempted to skip those and just switch the screens. Did they change the motor mounts because the first design was just too close to the edge of the casting or too easy to over drill the countersink holes?

I think the web is too thin/close to the edge for some less than 'skilled' folks to successfully create those countersunk holes using a hand held drill. Note the headstock in the gen2 video(holes broken out).

Mainly a bigger/better? touch screen and some tweaks re speed conformation requirements. Also fuse protection and internal heat overload protection.

Starting a bit before the 20 minute mark it seemed like they re-used video for the 'conventional headstock to Gen 2 upgrade' and added printed text on the screen when it wasn't exactly applicable. Thus the change from a "C" headstock with the original counter-sunk motor mount locations to a "B" with the new. Confirms, I'd say, that you don't get the "Enclosed Dust Proof Motor / Speed Sensor" that one might think is implied in the advertising with Gen 1 to Gen 2. So, it's not a true Gen 1 to Gen 2 in my view because that was an important improvement to me. Gen 1.5? I watched hoping for enlightenment from Jim on the rationale behind adding the fuse and thermal overload, but I went pretty fast through the last 1:15 of this one.

It looks good, and I like the change they've made to the 'Confirm' functionality. I think Mike is wrong in associating the Heatsink Temperature functionality with the new thermal overload device. That is the functionality we've always had, although it is somewhat easier to get the Gen 2 to display the temperature. But the added device is a brute force thing, one power wire going in and one going out. It is an on/off switch. And it is not very close to the heatsink, which is on the bottom of the control module. The new device is working on either free air temperature or headstock chassis temperature in the area it is physically installed. Similarly, the degree of protection he associates with a fuse is a bit optimistic. I'm not saying it is a bad idea, but a good surge protector might be a better one for power surges and lightning. A fuse is generally good for keeping a problem from getting much worse.
