BTW this is pushing the tolerance of the admin re selling stuff on this forum.

Sorry to disappoint, but it's not my ad. Just thought I'd tip off anyone local to this find. BTW, the guy has reduced the price to $75. Got to be a deal for someone nearby who enjoys restoring these machines, as many on this forum seem to do.

Hi,
I don't see a problem here.
I personally have "sold" a lot of stuff here. Any time I do a review and anyone buys the item after reading the review means I "sold it". Anytime I point out a web site where to buy something I'm acting as an unpaid agent in the selling of that item. Everytime we post a link to some neat tool we have or ask a question about a tool that link allows someone to purchase the item....
Now if you try to sell your stuff here or your friends stuff and I see it I flag it to admin. I'm not flagging this thread.
Now I sure do hope someone who is interested in an older machine finds this and does right by it... some of these have ended up at the junk yard way before there time. Over at the yahoo 10ER group page they have some pictures of restores of these machines... just amazing that tools from the late forties and early 50's are still operational, and sought after...

Hi Ken,
Just noticed no one has said welcome to the forum... so Welcome to the Forum!
If you have the time add a bit more about yourself and if you have shopsmith equipment or just learning or a old hand at it. It is also nice to know what area you are from if you are willing to do that. Some of that can be done by editing your profile or signature line...

I'm with JPG on this issue. Craigslist is a national listing of items being sold by individuals. On any day, there are a hundreds of "good deals" for ShopSmiths. For example, today, here in San Diego, there are 4 postings for cheap ShopSmiths, ranging from "free" to $100. Do I post a thread or for that matter 4 threads for these deals where tomorrow, they will be gone? And tomorrow, when 3 more show up, do I post threads for those? OF COURSE NOT. The thread will still be on this forum LONG after the "deals" are gone.
When we post "deals" that many of us can benefit from, it's worth it. When we post "deals" that only one of us can benefit from, as with a Craigslist posting, it just inconveniences forum members and guests.

I do not understand the rubber logic here. On several occasions Ed has chastised folks for 'copyright' loose thinking. I see the same loose thinking here(""I"" am not selling it therefore it is ok to mention it.)
It IS possible I am being too 'strict' here. Only the admin has the absolute understanding of the 'limits'.

This is sort of fuzzy logic, isn't it? If you are going to chastise Ken for posting a Craigslist ShopSmith item, then I don't think you need to be oohing and aahing over the second hand machines that have been purchased and rebuilt. Or, telling someone to look on Ebay or Craigslist for parts to a secondhand machine. Me thinks you are being a little bit, shall we say, over zealous with your protectiveness to SS and being just a tad "cliquish".
This is just MHO.
