Hi pkni,
I have knot bought wood on-line, but I found this place for "
Maple Spalted"]this site[/URL] has listings for 5 different species of spalted wood. Just scroll down and look at the alphabetical list. To locate these, just took a couple of minutes with a
google search, and I am sure there were more sites that I did knot look at.

PKNI,
Depends upon what size you're looking for. Rockler and PSI carry spalted maple pen blanks, but that's all. Did a
quick search on EBay and there's 196 responses for Spalted Lumber right now. There's a number of blocks for bowl turning...

Thanks Tom and Tim. I tried to look for spalted wood on Google with little success. Woodworker's Source does have some @ $16.95 BF. They were the only ones that specifically listed "Spalted". I just went to their site on the off chance. They didn't show up on Google.
Found one pdf about creating spalt. At my age, I don't think I'll start down that path.

Gene:
The Frank Miller Lumber Company in Union City Indiana carries spalted maple in their outlet store. They ship lumber all over the U.S. and World. They are one of the largest mills in the country.

Located about 60 miles N.E. of Shopsmith in Dayton, this is a "must stop" if you are ever in the area.
