Floating Coffee Shelf

Post by bainin »

Wife wanted more counter space...so i scrounged what i had left of walnut and maple and made this.

I wasnt happy with the kitchen counter being thicker and the fact that I could see the bracket underneath so
i did a little more adjusting to hide those things from view and ended here.

Looks good!

If I had done that, my wife would want me to replace the entire countertop.

Very nice. I may try something similar to extend a counter for a glass door mini-fridge. That will need a little heavier duty support so I'm thinking maybe a steel bracket embedded in the counter under a surface veneer top to reduce it's exposure and maximize the usable space underneath. To follow along with concerns of the others above, my wife may want more counter top that looks like that.

I would gravitate toward using that fine extension, more than the original counter! With my beverage and such :)

I was happy to finally find a reason to not hate the wainscoting and put it to some use haha.

And i have to go back and fix those rubmarks i made on the white sidewall putting in the guide holes/screws from the bottom. =)

Nice work, and it meets your needs exactly. That is the great thing about doing your own work. You get exactly what meets your needs.
Last Winter my Wife wanted a small butcher block area on the counter. We came up with this cabinet to do the job. It is on wheels so it can be moved out of the way if needed, but it supplies the butcherblock area when needed.

Looks Good to me!

And, the choice of woods fits right in with a coffee and cream theme.
