Long 45 cut on large piece conundrum

I don't have first hand experience with this method, thought about it after making myself nervous on my last long beveled rip, but what about a straight rip and then using a 45 degree router bit to create the miter?

What if you rip the door in half then make a filler piece 1.75x1.75 to fill the inside corner. If you can duplicate the ogee trim you could cope pieces to cover the panel edges. No miters required. If you want to miter the long edge I think I would still rip the door in half and then have a lighter piece to work with.
I didn't take the time to make the trim pieces but hopefully you can see what I mean.

I like your simple solution, I’m thinking I’ll try that first. I don’t think that people who are interested in buying this style of corner shelf likely wouldn’t pay much attention to which method was used to attach the sides! Keep it simple stupid, Doh!

This sounds like the best solution. The filler piece can make up for minor differences between the cut sides of the doors. You also can leave the door pieces in their original orientation to one another without needing two 45° cuts.

And there’s another good idea! If I use it on a track, I’m thinking it might just be close enough for this application. After all, I’m not making custom cabinetry here. Thanks!

Well, first I cut the door down the middle at 90 degrees using my circular saw. Then I set up one of my Shopsmiths to trim both newly cut edges at 45 degrees. It was a little tricky trying to move the door halves against the fence and across the table top. I wavered a little here & there, but these are old door halves, not kitchen cabinets, so it actually came out better than I thought it would. A tiny bit of caulking here & there and voila!

But, I’m thinking I’ll cut the next door at 90 and then use the filler piece as larryhrockisland suggested, will be quicker & easier. Thanks for all your input!
