I was not impressed with Mr Trumpka's performance of being a bully. Asking questions and not allowing complete responses.

You cannot make me believe the Saw stop 'announcement' was not staged nor not previously known by Mr Trumpka nor was it previously known by the PTI representative nor the gentleman grilling the SawStop 'witness'.

Politics at work at it's worst at being truly objective.

Here is the complete CPSC hearing on oral presentations, it took place on 2/28/2024, same day as SawStop's press release conditionally dedicating patent 840 to the public. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyJGE2Vyid0) Starting about 48:55 Commissioner Feldman acknowledges shortfalls in CPSC's Cost : Benefit Analysis necessary to meet their statutory mandate and survive legal challenges. Such shortfalls were identified in several of the responses to the proposed rule by entities opposed to it, and it has been previously mentioned in this thread. Whether the data even exists in a form that will support a compliant Cost : Benefit Analysis seems uncertain.

For those that questioned what 'dedicated to the public' meant in regard to SawStop's patent 840, this is also discussed in a Q&A starting about 46:28.

Thanks for that. When I googled "patent" and "dedicate to the public" I got basically bupkus.

Now Stumpy Nubs has weighed in on this matter...I particularly like his comments near the end regarding "veteran woodworkers".

Great video, thanks for the link. Could not agree more with the need for education about saw use and safety. In this regard, every SS user should be familiar with the PTWFE chapters on the saw mode.

Kind of funny though, in the ad for Ridge Blades that followed his video, both demonstrated cuts were made on a guard-less saw! 🙄

Imagine what would happen if you can not sell any saw without saw stop tech.
Even if allowed you may be opening your self to a law suit. You sold a known unsafe saw and my client cut off his foot. This might collapse the used saw market and tablesaws in general.
